Foraging Montana Flora and Fauna Throughout the Year | Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm | Kay Gogherty | HS Rm 6 | $25 | 

The first 5 weeks of this class will be spent in the classroom where you will learn how to find, identify and recognize Montana wild edibles. Based on their distinguishing characteristics, location, and in various life stages.

You will also learn how and when to collect and transport your harvest. We will discuss how to prepare and store flours, oils, and syrups. Throughout the course, we will sample some wild delights such as cattail pancakes with pine tree syrup, dandelion tea, create Jack Creeks kids camp most popular sting and scrape salve, and blend your own high nutrient wild seasoning.

The world of foraging is vast, intriguing and I warn you, very addicting. Once hooked by early springs first bud, you’ll even find yourself peeping under winter’s snow cover…looking for nature’s hidden treasure.

*The last class will be held on Saturday, May 21 instead of on the usual Tuesday. We will meet at the school and carpool to Jack Creek Preserve for a foraging walk.

*Class starts on April 12th and will run through to May 17th.

**Missed classes will be made upon the week of Monday, May 23rd.
